4 Days in Bali: Day 3: South

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Above are the places we went on Day 3. Check out the earlier videos on Youtube :)

This is the 3rd Day in Bali, which is also actually the last full day here. We fly off on the fourth. So here’s a summary of where we went:

  1. Tanah Lot
Very hot in the late morning. It’s home to a temple and has beautiful rock formations. Not as interesting as Tirta Empul and Uluwatu because you don’t have to walk a lot here. You can see almost everything there just by standing at 4 or 5 view points. If you don’t have a lot of time, you can skip this place.
This is Wikipedia’s description of it: Tanah Lot is a rock formation off the Indonesian island of Bali. It is home to the pilgrimage temple Pura Tanah Lot, a popular tourist and cultural icon for photography and general exoticism
  2. Iiga Warung Restaurant (Pork Ribs)
BEST Asian Pork Ribs I’ve ever had. MUST try. Near Jimbaran

  3. Alila Villas, Uluwatu
Went here because I work with Architects and they say this place is spectacular (They tend to like visiting resorts when travelling too). It really is! Very modern, stylish & overlooks the Indian Ocean. I later found out that one of my bosses worked with the company who designed it :O *proud*
  4. Uluwatu Temple
Beautiful cliffs. Beware of monkeys! Hold on tight to your loose items, especially shiny ones.
  5. Ayana Resort and Spa (Italian Restaurant)
Didn’t see a lot because we went there at night for dinner. We actually wanted to go to Rock Bar for the sunset but was too late. Food was pricey but alright.

Details and tons of pictures on all locations below:

Fruit and ice cream dessert because it was so hot.

After lunch, we just wanted to relax because we were still quite exhausted from yesterday’s loooong drive up in Ubud. We were really afraid of car rides so we requested Wardii to drop us at some nice cafe where we could chill before catching the sunset at Uluwatu.

Uluwatu is like a surf town. There were tons of foreigners on bikes with surfboards. While looking around trying to spot the perfect cafe, I saw the signboard “Alila Villas” by the road side and remembered my colleague mentioning it before. So I convinced my friends that it’s a recommended place and should totally check it out.

Alila Villas, Uluwatu

It took a little more driving deep into the road to these private villas, but I think my friends were pleasantly surprised.

We used the washroom and got stuck there. The female restroom’s main door accidentally closed and got stuck (Either the door is slanted or a bit too large for the frame)! We didn’t have a phone line, wifi was not detectable, and there was close to NO ONE that would just randomly walk by the public areas. Seriously, you’ll see more staff in the public areas than you would see guests.

Thankfully, one of us, Kee Xian was outside at the restaurant. After some time of us not showing up, she came to check on us, hence, pushing open the door! We were saved.

Us being silly. It’s supposed to be a smily face.

V-16031

Beware of monkeys here! They come out of nowhere, there are tons of them and they are brave!! They’ll snatch any loose or shiny item on you! Some poor lady lost her sunglasses to that monkey.

While waiting for the sunset we camwhored on this really boring and randomly built wall. The colors of the sunset actually made it look great.

We shouted for everyone to put their hands up for this. hehe.

If you look carefully, a couple is taking their wedding photos at the bottom of the picture above.

That blue strip on the right of the picture is actually Jawa Islands! So near yet so far!

Finally, after the sunset, we wanted to check out Rock Bar in Ayana Resort and Spa. But we decided to have dinner there first at an Italian Restaurant. It’s a bit pricey for not bad food. Wouldn’t say it’s extremely out of this world. We had some pasta, some meat which was good and some soups. This is the only clear picture because it was really dark there. Seafood pasta probably. More in the video.

Hope that was informative. Will have one more video coming up next week. Stay tuned and thanks for dropping by!
