I’m 29

Feature picture above taken by CCC Photography

Just celebrated my 29th year on this planet and I just realised I didn’t do a birthday post for last year even though I really wanted to because it was SUCH AN EXPERIENCE! I think I was half way typing it but it was so long, it got saved in draft and I never got back to it. Great daph -_-

However, I did put a summary on Instagram though, here is the post:

This year is completely different from the last. The Rainforest World Music Festival is on the same weekend as my birthday again but I wasn’t in Kuching to go to it. Instead, I just got back from South Korea and did a day’s transit in Kuala Lumpur to service a Client.

In this post, I just want to share a bit of my reflections

How I feel about turning 29

Absolutely loving it. I feel like I’m wrapping up my 20s in the best way possible. Truth is, it has been extremely tough. Everyday is a struggle since I left my full time “stable” job about a year ago. BUT, that’s the whole reason why it’s great. From all the ups and downs, I’ve learnt so much from my current capabilities, to what is possible; from relationships I want to have with people; and to most importantly be honest with myself with what I really want in life and accept myself for it. I won’t say I am happy everyday, but I can say I’m happy with how my life is and I’d love to see how it would grow to be in the next 10, 20, 50 years.

What I’m proud of

  1. Taking the leap – From a stable job to an art-entrepreneurial life. This is probably the hardest but most liberating thing I’ve done. It’s constantly stressful and worrisome, yet, there’s not a day I wake up regretting anything!
  2. Keeping up the health – I workout multiple times a week and have badminton sessions 1-2 times a week. And I eat fairly “clean”ly. I can actually see lean muscles without flexing too much now which I am so pleased about. The next challenge is eating clean enough till the abs come out (HAHA) I’ve waited a very long time for this.

What I think I can improve on

  1. Goal Management vs Time Management – I used to think I’m bad at managing time because I can’t keep up Blogging and Vlogging. But I realised that every moment of my time is actually used pretty productively – as in I am always creating, producing, learning, and it’s always a type of my work… The only reason I didn’t do what I really want (blog and vlog) was because I did not set them as my priority or goal. And I’m trying to put more of what I love into the “goal” list. I will try to improve this immediately! Hence, stay tuned for weekly content again on Instagram.com/daphnesiaw and youtube.com/daphnesiaw
  2. I forgot what I wanted to type. It has been 5 days since I started typing this post. Maybe I’ll get “1.” right first and share the rest when I can remember. HEH -_-“”

So, just gonna end my birthday post here with some precious pictures from my 29th Birthday. I’m extremely grateful for everything I have whether I achieved them or whether people handed them to me. I’m happy inside despite my broody instagram stories. HAHA. Till the next post! Stay tuned for my South Korean adventures!
