First vlog!
Hello! This is the third weekend since my trip to Bali, Indonesia and I FINALLY get to blog about it. Spent the longest time editing bits and pieces of the video (first timer). Hope you don’t puke from the shaking!
First two things to know about the trip:
It’s only 4 days. 4 days is NOT enough for the beautiful Bali! It takes hours to get from one place to another, and there’s TONS of stuff to see at every corner of the island. So don’t make our mistake!
It’s a reunion trip! Okay, it’s not a real mistake. We didn’t intentionally go there just for touring. It was more of a get-together trip because it has been about 5 years (or more?) since our last trip together. As of this year, we’ve known each other for about 11 years now. There’s supposed to be 5 of us. One couldn’t make it. See, it’s really really hard to get us all to go anywhere together because of these few simple reasons: 1 – We live in 4 different cities, 2 – We entered the working world just about 3-4 years ago, so everyone was either lacking annual leaves or money.
Talk about money, we were millionaires for a few days in IDR
We changed a bit of USD as advised before the trip, but ended up changing it into IDR during the trip to spend because IDR is used everywhere. You’ll probably only use USD at the airport.
Okay, back to the day. I live in the small city, Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia. Malaysia is separated into two islands, and we’re on the East side, which is on the Northern part of Borneo. Bali should be about a 2 hour’s flight South from Kuching City (just guessing from the map), HOWEVER, I have to take a 2 hour flight to the West to get to Kuala Lumpur, and fly back down South East to Bali which takes about 3 freggin’ hours. Adding on transit time and all that, it took me the entire day (about 10 hours) to get to my destination instead of just 2 hours.
My poor injured neck had to go through hours of lifting up my heavy head. Have messed up cervical discs, talk about it another day, maybe.
My precious bag. It belonged to my late mother.
It’s definitely more than 15 years old. This is probably the last international flight I’ll use it on.
Off we go to Kuala Lumpur! In Kuching, we still have to walk down to the airplane grounds and lift our baggage up these stairs to board the plane.
Yay! Met Kimberley at KL. She lives here. She was sweet enough to come 3 hours before our flight to have lunch with me at the airport. 😀 Had a big Nando’s lunch.
Taking a picture with the wall we were looking at for 3 hours while waiting for our flight.
Hey, Janani! AirAsia featured Holi! (Janani is my friend from India, she always educates me on the art, culture and festivals of her country. I SOOOO wanna visit India soon.)
I was somehow super hungry throughout this travelling day. I had lui cha breakfast earlier in the morning, Nando’s for lunch, and then a cinnamon danish right before the flight. Then on the flight, I ordered these sad mini chicken burgers. Despite the cute happy faces on it, it really is quite sad, there’s only a small processed meat chicken patty in between these little buns. I guess they were made for kids, so.
Tried to bump up on vitamins as I was feeling a little “funny”. Check out the description! Cute.
Arrived at Denpasar International Airport, Bali, Indonesia! There’s artwork everywhere! Took a bit of time to find our driver.
It was dinner time, so our awesome driver & photographer, Wardi Goh (look for him on Facebook) brought us for dinner at Malioboro restaurant for some Indonesian food!
Ayam Tulang Lunak with salted egg gravy was our favorite dish there. Ayam Tulang Lunak means Soft Bone Chicken according to Google.
This is the original version without gravy. It was a little dry.
Toufu! Very tasty. The drinks here are super thick and sweet. Everywhere I went after that, I had to tell them to not add ANY sugar at all!
The temperature that night was very warm. When we got to our villa, our pool was still warm too! So we dipped all the way pass 12am.
Okay, end of day 1. Very tiring. Next time I come back to Bali, I’ll stay atleast a week to make the entire travel time to the island worth it. -_-“
